Mommy’s Day

Mother's Day

i know we don’t normally post on a Sunday, but i think i can make an exception in this case.  Happy Mother’s Day to the one who let me crawl my way out of her birth canal and into the sun light (more accurately, hospital fluorescent lighting).  Thank you for putting up with awkward younger me when you had to and continuing to support my weirdness to this day.  Love you always :)

  1. I totally dig the style in this comic! What kind of marker did you use, and what’s the color name (or number)? That’s a very nice green. So okay, I’m not color art critic here. “Very nice green,” coming to a thesis near you…psh.

Reminds me of Kate Beaton’s autobiographic comics that would be posted every now and then on Hark, A Vagrant.

    • Thank you for asking Stephanie, I was hopnig someone would join in the conversation! I don’t know for sure all the benefits of joining LDMA opposed to joining GPAA, so I hope someone from GPAA will see our post and offer some insight. The jest that I have gotten so far from being a part of both organizations is that they really are just one organization but different levels of membership. I think GPAA is designed more for the “weekend warrior”-type prospector whereas LDMA is more for the prospector who would like to spend a longer time, perhaps weeks at a time, at a location. Also, with the LDMA membership you are automatically a GPAA member. It also seems LDMA is set up to make a member feel almost as if they are “investing” in the organization rather than just being a member. The cost is certainly greater. As an LDMA member you almost feel as if you are contributing to the “cause”, if that makes sense.

    • From match stick horses to The Musical Ride, a ntuaral progression. Always knew that you had a special talent, and the Ride pieces certainly confirm that. What a wonderful project! I have been proud to show off your work to my friends, not just your equine art but all of the other art you do. Love Mom
